How to Participate

Getting started is easy:

The Freedom Marine Photo Derby is open to anyone in British Columbia—whether you’re a seasoned boater, weekend explorer, avid angler, or simply love spending time on the water.

Register by August 10, 2026 using the registration form on this page.
Receive your complimentary welcome package.
Get out on the water and start capturing your favourite boating moments.
Submit your photos between August 14–30, 2026 using one of the following methods:
- Upload them directly at www.boatingfreedom.com/photoderby
- Or email them to officestaff@boatingfreedom.com including:
  - Your name
  - Email address
  - Date the photo was taken
  - Optional caption or story behind the photo

Then sit back, enjoy the rest of your boating season, and watch for the winners to be announced!

Every photo you submit earns you an entry into the Grand Prize Draw.

Our judges—including the Freedom Marine team, event sponsors, and a panel of boating enthusiasts—will award prizes in the following categories:

Grand Prize Draw (all submitted photos are eligible)
Best Salmon
Best Ling Cod
Best Halibut
Wildlife Wonder (Best Boating Wildlife Photo)
Scenic Serenity (Best Boating Landscape)
Best Boating Bites (Your favourite meal enjoyed onboard)
Junior Lens Legend (Best photo submitted by a participant under 16 years old)

Photo Usage

By entering the contest, participants grant Freedom Marine permission to use submitted photographs for promotional purposes, including social media, email marketing, print materials, and future event promotions. Freedom Marine reserves the right to remove any content deemed inappropriate.
