E-Motion Hybrid Technology
The hybrid propulsion system combines Marquesa's twin 1550hp conventional MAN diesel engines with electric motors, variable speed generators, lithium-ion batteries, and dockside shore power inverters to provide flexible propulsion and onboard power. The motors can be coupled or decoupled from the diesel engines, allowing operation in different hybrid modes. Onboard electric power for "hotel services", auxiliary systems, and charging functions, is supplied through the generators, batteries, or shore connection, depending upon system demand.
This system provides ten different ways to push the vessel.
1) Full diesel traditional propulsion. In this mode, the vessel can be operated traditionally, even if the hybrid system is off.
2) Diesel-Electric Navigational Mode
- Main engines are off
- Variable speed generators produce electrical power to operate the electric motors
- Top comfort medium/long range navigation
3) Zero Emissions Navigation Mode
- All internal combustion engines are off
- Only high-voltage batteries supply power to the electric motors and to the "hotel load"
- Zero noise while cruising

4) Economy Navigation Mode
- Only one main diesel engine running
- The engine supplies power to the system through the alternator mode of the electric motor
- Both shafts are operate. One from the diesel engine and the second one by the electric motor
- In this mode, the electrical power for propulsion, hotel loads, and the battery charge is generated by the shaft alternator
- Both generators can be switched off

5) Power Booster Mode
- The electric motors and diesel engines work together on the same shaft

6) Cruising Booster Mode
- The electric motors and the diesel engines are working together on the same shaft
- In this mode, both main engines and all diesel generators are working at 80% load (continuous rating)
- Increased cruising speed to the top speed of a traditional yacht
7) Hotel Load, Zero-Emissions Mode
- Lithium-ion batteries supply energy for all of the ships systems
- At anchor, the vessel is fully operative for up to 12 hours without diesel back up
- Top comfort, zero noise, zero pollution
8) International Shore Power and Plug-In Battery Charge Mode
- While docked, the hybrid yacht has worldwide electrical shore power compatibility and charges the Lithium-ion batteries
- No need for a shore power converter

9) Generator Fast-Charge Mode
- Main diesel engines off
- Variable speed generators operate at high speed to provide the power for fast charge of the batteries and hotel load
- Batteries will reach 90% charge in as little as 30 minutes
10) Navigational Fast-Charge Mode

- Variable speed generators are off
- The electric motors attached to the main diesel engines generate the power for the hotel load and the charge batteries to 90%in as little as 30 minutes
