Brentwood Bay Resort
12th November 2024
After exploring and anchoring out in the southern Gulf Islands, it may be time to treat yourselves to a bit of pampering at the upscale, adult-oriented, Brentwood Bay Resort, located on the quiet southeastern shoreline of beautiful Saanich Inlet.
As you approached the resort, hail the resort’s marina on VHF Channel 66A for your slip assignment. A friendly voice will welcome you and will warn you of the rocks and reef lurking out in front of the marina. The area of caution is marked by red buoy U22. Keeping the buoy well to starboard will provide safe passage.
A friendly and helpful staff member will be standing ready to assist with the lines, provide information about the breathtaking facility, introduce you to the many activities available to guests, and answer any questions. The staff will also make your dinner reservations and provide provisioning service. The marina has fifty slips of which half are occupied by annual guests. Transient moorage is available for boats up to 125-feet at either their 165-feet of linear dock, or at free births. Moorage is limited, so reservations are recommended. The resort offers 30 and 50-amp power, water, clean washrooms, showers, coin operated laundry, garbage, pump-out, Wi-Fi, and fitness room. There are also meeting rooms out on the dock that are popular with yacht club rendezvous.
Registered marina guests over eighteen have access to the hotel’s fitness centre, pool, and hot tub. Spa services are also available. During the summer, kayaks and paddleboards are available for rent.
The marina office and Eco-Adventure Centre offers a world class PADI dive center providing dive courses and charters. The area is known for its fantastic diving and is one of the few locations in the world where you can see an undersea field of glass sponges which have taken thousands of years to form. A special windowed boat offers informative eco-tours of the area as well as a shuttle service to nearby Butchart Gardens.
Walking up from the marina across a wooden footbridge leads to the adjacent lodge and spa. The architecture of the lodge is quite dramatic with soaring wooden beams that tastefully blends into the wooded hillside, all contributing to the lodge’s laid-back luxury atmosphere.
The lobby area of the lodge is decorated with beautiful works of art, many done by local artists. The contemporary west coast design features elegant wooden beamed ceilings, floor to ceiling stone fireplace and glass walls looking out to the water and marina below and is open to the Arbutus Room restaurant.
The menu in The Arbutus is truly a dining delight with the ultimate indulgence. The dining experience focuses on fresh coastal cuisine inspired by local seasonal items, tempting desserts and the region’s award-winning wines.
The pub with a huge indoor fireplace and heated patio seating for those cool northwest nights, all overlooking the harbor and pool, is a wonderful place to enjoy a locally crafted ale or regional wines while watching the sunset over Brentwood Bay. The menu in the pub is casual coastal cuisine of appetizers, wood oven pizzas, and handmade burgers along with other pub favorites. The food is excellent, coming from the same kitchen as the dining room.
If you’ve indulged in too much food and libations or want to book a special treat for a special crew member or a little self–indulgence, suggest making a reservation to visit the Spa. Choose from the full selection of massages, wraps, facials, pedicures, and manicures.
