Dent Island Lodge – Pamper yourself at an upscale wilderness retreat.

Dent Island is a first-rate, all-inclusive, 7,000 sq/ft lodge and marina located in Cordero Channel between Sonora Island and the BC mainland in the northern Discovery Islands. Open June through September, this intimate and secluded lodge features saltwater salmon fishing and freshwater fly fishing, but angling is just a small portion of what the lodge offers.

In addition to relaxation and bird watching, the lodge also offers a variety of jet boat and helicopter tours.

The approach to the lodge, via power boat or sail boat, requires transiting some of the most dangerous saltwater rapids on the coast. Currents in the rapids can reach 15 knots, with whirlpools and overflows. Mariners must consult current tables and time arrival and departures during slack current.

Situated directly adjacent to the lodge, the marina provides 1,000 feet of protected, deep water moorage with 30, 50 and 100-amp power, water, showers, laundry, garbage, recycling, and Wi-Fi service. The fish cleaning and packing facility is popular with anglers. The docks are wide and stable and can accommodate vessels up to 180 feet. Due to the lodge’s popularity, reservations are recommended well in advance.

Included with the moorage, tenants have access to the inviting hot tub overlooking Canoe Pass Rapids, sauna, hot tub, fitness room with its unparalleled view of Tugboat Pass, access to a hiking trail that offers several impressive vistas, and complimentary coffee and fresh baked pastries in the morning.

The lodge complex sits on two islets overlooking the tidal rapids to the east of Dent Island, which provides a fascinating scene several times a day as the big tides switch the rapids to ebb and flood. The lodge can host 26 overnight guests, in the three log cabins with a living room, fireplace, bedrooms, private deck overlooking the water, and hot tub.

The grounds of the lodge are beautifully landscaped, blending just the right number of decorative plantings with the natural vegetation. The main lodge is warm and inviting with a lounge and game room, complete with a fireplace and trophy fish mounts, providing a relaxing location to visit with other guests. There is also a fully stocked bar providing a nice gathering place to enjoy some well-prepared cocktails and when it’s time to dine, guest have options.

Enjoy gourmet meals in the Yaculta Dining Room, outdoors on the deck overlooking the marina, or the cozy Rapids Grill. Grill guests are seated around a circular bar with preparation tables, grills, sink and refrigeration in the center. The setting is magical as it’s on a covered deck overlooking Canoe Pass Rapids. The open kitchen serves up small dishes that let you nibble on several courses while the chef prepares the next course and provides a few cooking tips.
